Last season saw big changes for the Romans, with a new coaching set-up, a different approach to training was bought in, with added structure and discipline. This new approach saw a change in the Romans fortunes, with early results looking promising, but the Romans not fulfilling their potential in the latter stages of the season, against some very strong opponents.
For the 2010 season, the Romans have moved on yet again, experienced players and promising rookies have joined the team and returning players have all helped to strengthen the Romans in all area's. New approaches to training and some twist's on some old favourites have seen the players up their games from the season before. There is more competition for places and everyone is responding well. We have a 4 training sessions left before we face our first test, with a a great opportunity to play last season's Division 2 Winners Leicester Falcons, in a controlled scrimmage. This will be a superb test to measure how far we have come and what we need to do before the start of the season. Rookies and experienced players alike will enjoy coming up against a top class Team, and we all hope to get a lot out of it. I have been very impressed with the attitude of the players this pre-season, and if we can continue in the same vein, then we can improve on last season's results. Coach Smith |
